Magic

The ability to break the laws of nature is not real. However, there exists an enormous measure of knowledge about natural forces that humans know nothing about. There are mysterious aspects of the universe for which we have no name nor understanding, and though they are part of God’s universe, and governed by the same things that make you and me, we should not pretend to understand them.

Everything we experience about reality is a divine miracle. All things are mysterious, all things are mostly unknown, all things are magic. There are some types of magic that we are born to manipulate. This includes reproduction, feeling, speaking, thinking, creating, etc…

However, there are forces some would describe as Magic that relates to real phenomena that, to the initiated, may have some predictable results (such as electricity). But there are Magic practices that have unpredictable results, are incredibly dangerous, and should be avoided at all costs.

I assure you, using forces you don’t understand will always have unpredictable results. Any human expecting to manipulate mysterious universal forces that they cannot control, is guaranteed to be acting in an anti-pattern with reality. Sin is an old archery term, meaning “to miss the mark”, and how can you have a virtuous aim if your arrow does not fly in a predictable pattern? How can you intend some good to come from something if you have no idea what the implications of it are. Knowing when to say “I don’t know” and not trying to control the situation is often the right path to take.

Nature is an infinite mystery. Explore carefully. Act responsibly. Do good. If it seems like magic, it’s dangerous because you clearly don’t understand it.
