Metaphysics
/ˌmedəˈfiziks/ The branch of philosophy that deals with the first principles of things, including abstract concepts such as being, knowing, substance, cause, identity, time, and space.
I think the world is in need of a solid metaphysical theory that can unite our disparate understandings of how things work. People are moved around in the world within forces greater than themselves. It’s important we step back and see what it is that truly moves us, causes us to act, so we may see who we are in the big picture. People are controlled by ideas, but most do not know the philosophy behind them, let alone how to break free of such puppetry.
We live in unprecedented times as far as I know, and to have the opportunity to look back at world histories, from ancient pre-history to the modern era. Such a long and broad view, combined with deep understanding, and some keen organization, we might be able to make sense of things in a broader way.
A wise man once said, “Religion is just secularized metaphysics…” and I think there is some truth to that. It’s the notion that all religions are an interpretation of the metaphysical reality in which we live. Trying to discover and communicate simplex truths is a noble endeavor, and today, has become a necessary one. Our culture writes stories that seek moral virtue and never find it. As an advanced people we look to the future with hope and ambition, but have none of the wisdom needed to act responsibly. The average person doesn’t understand the purpose of myth in an academic sense, but a culture needs myth. We need to build stories that educate the people in how the world works. We need those of us who know how things work to share that knowledge. We need good teachers again. We need real answers again. We have to heal in a world where post-modernism has driven us off a cliff. We have to use the lessons learned over the past 100 years and apply them to life so we can move forward, together.
In this blog, I hope I can communicate what it is that I have found to be true. In my life, I hold wisdom, truth, and logic above all else. Please join me as I begin to unravel some of the universe, so we can see how it is put together.
